Beside the traditional kinds of trekking — mountain, fast, slow, desert — we could create a brand new category: the Etruscan Coast Trekking, pointing out the uniqueness of a geographical area that merges history, art and culture with unmatched scenic beauty.
We live in the historical era of “everything, right now”; that is why going on a hike through wild natural environments and getting out into nature can restore the true meaning of life. With a facility like Salvapiano Holiday Ranch, enveloped in the Tuscan countryside a few kilometers from the Etruscan Coast, as our starting point, we can enjoy walking on paths twisting and turning along breathtaking views.
The Etruscan Coast stretches out over the Tyrrhenian Sea from Livorno to Piombino. It borrows its name from the ancient and mysterious people who lived here since the 9th century BC, whose traces we can still see today.
Trekking in this region is like traveling through history, with our eyes reflecting the same green of the Mediterranean scrub and the same blue of the sea that the ancient inhabitants could see. The countless routes will take us on dirt tracks and paths where you can appreciate the unique peculiarities of this land. The aromatic, entangled Mediterranean scrub takes turns with the rows of vineyards and centuries-old olive trees. Facing west, protected by woods and strips of dunes, we can find the golden beaches and the crystal-clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
You can choose among several routes with different variations, each with its own difficulties and characteristics. At the Salvapiano Holiday Ranch, you will be get useful tips and suggestions to deal with the routes that best suit your fitness level and your wishes. Here are some examples of trekking routes along the Etruscan Coast.
A path of medium difficulty, where the jaw-dropping panorama is well worth the physical struggle. The paths wrap around up the coast, halfway up between the sea and the sky, surrounded by the scents and colors of the Mediterranean scrub and towering over the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago.
A flat path among the dunes, the pine forest and the sea. A number of different paths depart from the so-called “Geodetic” road that connects Piombino to Riotorto, heading into the Park and toward the beaches while crossing the oak woods.
An area of great natural interest, made unique by the presence of ancient mines. The highlight of this trekking route is the medieval fortress of San Silvestro, standing high atop a rocky peak from which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama, as far as your eyes can see.
Salvapiano Holiday Ranch is the ideal starting point to plan your trekking routes throughout the Etruscan Coast. The staff will help you plan your holiday in Tuscany, as you go on leisure walks through a breathtaking landscape, healing your body and soul.
